OpenStreetMap/countries
From Navit's Wiki
In order for search to work properly, Navit assigns villages/towns/cities (anything with a [place] OSM tag) to a country. It does this by looking at the is_in or is_in:country tag attached to the same place node for information on what country it is in. Navit will compare the country name in the is_in or is_in:country against a list defined in the code. The following table is the list which Navit compares with - if you feel that a country is missing, or a translation for a particular country should be added, add a ticket to trac.
