Talk:OpenStreetMap
From Navit's Wiki
- I guess the maps on http://maps.navit-project.org/ are processed using the files from download.geofabrik.de. If so, was it possible to process the europe file as well? SlowRider 17:54, 18 April 2008 (CEST)
- Well, you can always cut out a rectangular area of our planet.bin via http://maps.navit-project.org/api/map/. It will give you a slight overhead in the result (about 10 MB I guess) and some stuff you don't want, but it is extremely fast, the extraction is done one the fly. Cp15
Default country[edit]
When searching for a destination "United Kingdom" has been filled in as default country. Is there any way of changing this default?

place delimiting area[edit]
Does navit support this one?
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/FAQ#What_makes_a_road_belong_to_a_city.3F:
There should be a closed way marking the extent of the city with a place and a place_name tag, as well as a single node with a name and place to mark where to draw the city-name.
I think navit using it would be a big push to make OSMers use this feature.
Add country codes[edit]
I'd like to add Ecuador (218) to Navit's "recognized countries list". How do I?--Arnotixe 16:16, 23 June 2010 (UTC)
addr:country tag[edit]
I propose include OSM addr:country tag support in maptool. --Alx (talk) 07:27, 24 March 2013 (CET)
