Please report bugs to trac.navit-project.org (you can use your wiki.navit-project.org user for this).

You should provide the following information:

Compile Problems

  • Make sure you have re-run autogen.sh and configure after an svn update
  • Which version of navit you have used
  • What os and or distribution you are using
  • The complete output of configure
  • The complete output of make

Usage Problems

  • Which version of navit you have used, and whether you have compiled it yourself or where you downloaded it
  • What os and or distribution you are using
  • The output of the locale command if using an unixoid os.
  • Best would be to include your complete navit.xml or at least what you have changed in the shipped navit.xml (as verbose as possible)
  • What maps you have used, and where you have downloaded them (if applicable)

Reporting Coordinates for Problems

  • If you are using gtk, right click on the map, go to the Map Point menu and add the coordinates in your report. You will also see them in the console
  • If you are using internal, drag and zoom the map to the right coordinate, and enter the menu by clicking on the map at correct position. You will see the coordinates in the Actions Menu. You could also add a bookmark to save you from writing down the coordinates

Routing

Symptoms might include illegal routes, routes which are way off from optimum or if there is no route found

  • Report the coordinates of your position and your destination
  • Try routing to a point between your position and destination to both destination and position and report the coordinates at which point it fails
  • Report what you would have expected and what you got

Navigation

Symptoms might include missing announcements, wrong and or misleading announcements and unneeded announcements Please enable the navigation map to diagnose such problems. You should see a navigation symbol at every point where a navigation is required. If the map looks correct, but you got a wrong announcement, the problem is most likely related to tracking and/or announcement

  • Report the coordinates of your position and your destination
  • Report the coordinate(s) where the incident occurs
  • Report what you would have expected and what you got

Tracking errors

Symptoms might include showing the vehicle at a wrong position and jumps between correct and incorrect position Due to inaccuracy of maps and bad gps reception this errors are not always avoidable

  • Report the coordinates of your position where it happened, where you did come from and your destination (if routing was enabled)
  • Provide an nmea log if possible and add the time at which the problem occured
  • Specify where you were and where on the map you was shown

Announcement errors

Symptoms might include announcements way too early, announcements too late, wrong announcements, repeated announcements, missing announcements

  • First make sure that it isn't a tracking and or navigation problem (see above)
  • Report the coordinates of your position where it happened, where you did come from and your destination (if routing was enabled)
  • Provide an nmea log if possible and add the time at which the problem occured
  • Report what you would have expected and what you got
